Ashtead Technology has completed its $2 million (£1.54 million) investment in a new Houston facility as part of their ongoing international growth plans. The new building is three times the size of the previous address allowing the global subsea equipment solutions firm to increase their service lines and capabilities from their Gulf of Mexico headquarters.

The rapidly expanding company has signed a seven-year lease and moved into a 31,000ft² building at the heart of their customer base in the city’s Northwest Freeway and Sam Houston Toll way area. The space has been redesigned and developed to accommodate new offices, workshops and a warehouse all under the same roof.

Ashtead Technology had previously resided in the Katy area for more than 20 years. Its new two-storey high premises feature integration and calibration labs; electrical, mechanical and calibration workshops; a cable moulding workshop; a training room for equipment demonstration and educating its personnel and clients; a high-pile storehouse; and open plan offices for management and administration staff.

Last month (April), Ashtead Technology completed the expansion of its Singapore base following increased market demand in the Asia Pacific region. The extensive refurbishment doubled its size to 27,000ft² to house a wider range of electronic and mechanical equipment.

Ashtead Technology has also recently acquired Aqua-Tech Solutions based in Louisiana, increasing its operational bases serving the Gulf of Mexico region to three (Broussard, Houma and Houston). This is the fourth acquisition the firm has completed in the three years since it was acquired by Buckthorn Partners and APICORP.

As part of the most recent acquisition, Ashtead Technology has increased its team in the USA to 35 employees and has plans to further increase this in the next 12 months.

US regional vice president, Steven Thrasher said: “The company is enjoying a period of strong growth and we have capitalised on the opportunity to further improve our Houston facility and capabilities to better serve our clients both in the US and internationally. As well as providing us with the space to offer a much wider range of solutions and services, the new facility is in a key location giving our clients easier access and transport connectivity to our support base.

“The continued success of the business is a testament to the hard work and dedication of every one of our employees and we are proud to see the positive impact the new working environment is already having on our people and our clients. This strategic relocation and recent acquisition have strengthened our position as the leading subsea equipment solutions specialist in the US market and provides us with a distinctive edge to better serve our clients.”
