An Aberdeen audiologists is calling on the community to help them raise £10,000 for Cycling without Age to allow the charity to purchase a brand-new bike.

Following the store’s donation to the charity in autumn last year, Specsavers Aberdeen Audiology is going the extra mile for the organisation, aiming to raise the cost for a specially designed ‘Trishaw’ bike to help them kick off their spring season.

The team at the locally owned and run store has donated £1,000 to the Aberdeen branch of Cycling Without Age (CWA), a charity which they say, ‘aligns with their mission of eliminating isolation, no matter the avenue’.

However, to further raise £10,000 needed for a new trishaw bike, the team are organising a race night and are encouraging locals to get involved, calling for donations, prizes, or sponsorships to help them meet their goal for the charity.

Ian McLellan, audiology director for Specsavers Aberdeen, says: ‘We’re calling on our community to help us support this wonderful organisation in the best possible way, by raising enough money to fund a new trishaw.

‘As audiologists, we see how isolation can affect those who struggle with hearing, and the CWA mission is to eliminate isolation through socialising and helping the elderly in our community to feel seen and included, we feel their goals align with ours completely.

‘Get involved in any way you can. Whether it’s a donation or sponsorship for our race night, we’re so incredibly grateful for any support we can pass on to Cycling Without Age.’

Specsavers Aberdeen Audiology is hosting the race night on Saturday, 21 March at the Holburn Bar, Aberdeen. If you’d like to get involved with the race night, please contact [email protected] for sponsorship or donation information.

The team is also accepting donations through their Go Fund Me page. To donate to the cause, please visit https://gofund.me/8b95e683f.
