After the summer break Community Cinema returns to Banff Castle with two contrasting titles to open the autumn programme: an evening feature on Friday and a family-friendly Saturday matinee.

Friday 12 September, 7pm – Mr Burton.  The true story of a young wayward Welsh schoolboy Richard Jenkins who dreams of becoming an actor. With the guidance of his inspiring teacher Philip Burton Richard’s talent blossoms.

However his journey to stardom is fraught with challenges including family struggles the pressures of World War II and his own inner demons. It’s a story of ambition mentorship and the making of a legend Richard Burton.

Saturday 13 September, 2pm – Flow.  A family-friendly dialogue-free animated adventure about a cat who after a devastating flood must team up with a group of other animals to survive.

Together they embark on a perilous journey learning to trust and rely on each other as they navigate a world changed by nature. The film praised for its stunning visuals and heartwarming story explores themes of friendship teamwork and the resilience of nature.


The autumn programme continues in October with The Salt Path and Lilo & Stitch with more titles planned for the rest of the winter season. Dates and further details will be announced on our channels and through our ticketing page.

John Cox, Chair of Banff Castle Community Association, said: “We’re pleased to open our autumn season and welcome audiences back to the Castle. Community Cinema is about bringing people together close to home with thoughtful programming in a relaxed setting.

“Starting with two very different films we’re aiming to offer something that appeals across ages and interests while keeping things friendly and informal.”
