BB foodservice – formerly Bestway Batleys foodservice, part of the UK’s largest independent wholesaler Bestway Wholesale – has chosen its Aberdeen site to be one of just 15 flagship depots across the UK. As part of the move, the site is set to undergo a major refit in January 2018 to support the site’s ambitious growth targets, providing a welcome boost to the local economy.

The Scotstown Road depot – which opened as Edwards Cash & Carry in May 1976 –will be a powerhouse for the newly rebranded BB foodservice, which is aiming for national turnover growth of 16% in 2017.

Steven Young, the site’s general manager, said: “The depot currently makes upwards of 700 deliveries every week to more than 600 businesses within a 240-mile radius. And we expect those figures to increase dramatically as we look to expand the number of businesses we supply with a wide range of food & drink products and a local, personal service.”

Martin Race, managing director, Bestway Wholesale, added: “This isn’t just about delivering quality products at competitive prices. From recipes, tools and calculators to our tailor-made wine list design service – our support doesn’t end at the door. Whatever our customers need, our territory sales managers in Aberdeen are just a phone call away. And they relish a challenge.”
