Boutique bowling firm announces Aberdeen opening

The owners of a group of boutique bowling venues has confirmed it will be opening its doors in Aberdeen before the end of the year.

Lane7, which combines upmarket tenpin bowling experiences with a high-end, late night drinks establishment, is set to open a six-lane venue in mid-November on the site of the former Tiger Tiger in the city’s Merchant Quarter.

It will be the group’s second venue, having launched its flagship site in Newcastle in 2013. Lane7 operations manager, Charlie Snow, said: “We can’t wait for the people of Aberdeen get their bowl on! This is a city with a buzzing nightlife and we’re thrilled to be adding a fresh, new dimension to it.

“We launched Lane7 as the antidote to plastic, soulless retail park bowling venues. As well as the six super slick lanes, we’re going to be bringing some special twists too. We’re keeping them under wraps for now, but we promise the people of Aberdeen will love what we’re bringing to the city.”

A substantial six-figure sum has been invested in the development, which is expected to create around 30 full and part time roles.

Lane7’s first opening in Newcastle upon Tyne is renowned for its stylish and quirky décor and surprise additional elements. The venue there has been known to introduce ‘pop-up’ attractions which last only a matter of weeks before disappearing again. They’ve previously put on indoor mini golf, giant remote-controlled racing rigs and traditional arcade games.
