The EIC/RGU Rising Star MBA Award is an initiative designed to support the development of the leaders of the future in the oil and gas sector and recognises the potential and talent of young UK engineers. As part of the prize, Brian has won full tuition fees, worth £17,000 for the MBA programme, delivered by Aberdeen Business School at Robert Gordon University.

Commenting on his win Brian said: “I am extremely proud to have won this award, being selected from a field of truly excellent nominees.  To be recognised by such an eminent organisation as the EIC – and by RGU, which was involved in the judging – is a real honour.

“Earning the opportunity to undertake the MBA is fantastic and sets me up really well both for my future career with px and my ambitions to become a leader in the industry in the years to come.”

Brian has enjoyed great success since joining px just three years ago, securing three promotions to his current position of Engineering Manager.

During his time in technical roles, Brian has used innovative engineering solutions to improve efficiency, safety and the operational performance of the plant.

He now heads up a team of around 25 engineers and from next year, will manage a multi-million pound budget. He has a passion for developing his team and has supported one employee into a graduate apprenticeship scheme.

px is a fully integrated energy infrastructure solutions business that delivers improved operating performance for industrial facilities.

Established in 2002, it employs over 500 people and provides work for up to 1,000 further contractors – operating, maintaining and managing high hazard facilities across the UK.

These include gas processing, gas and renewable energy power generation and support services to chemical processing partners. The business also provides an energy trading and optimisation service in the UK.

Dr Ian Broadbent, Director of the MBA programme at RGU, said: “The EIC and RGU Rising Star MBA Award is now in its third year and we are delighted that it continues to attract such stellar candidates. We designed the Rising Star MBA Award together with the EIC in order to enable innovative, committed and talented individuals to join our accredited MBA programme at RGU and this year we’ve had an incredibly difficult time picking the winners.

“RGU greatly values our close and long-standing relationship with the EIC in helping to develop the leadership and management capabilities of these ambassadors for the energy industry and preparing them for the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition.”

EIC CEO Stuart Broadley, said, “We’re proud to once again work with RGU to find the industry’s next rising star. Brian is already doing fantastic work at Px. This on the ground, practical experience, combined with RGU’s world leading MBA in Oil and Gas Management, will ensure he fulfils his full potential and, I’m in no doubt, become one of the industry’s leaders of tomorrow.”
