ABERDEEN City Council’s City growth and Resources committee noted an update on the progress of the delivery of the Bus Partnership Fund projects (Tuesday 21 June).
The Bus Partnership Fund was launched to enable local transport authorities, in partnership with bus operators, to work together to develop and deliver ambitious bus priority schemes to tackle the negative impacts of congestion on bus services.
A report to committee highlighted the completion of STAG (Scottish Transport Appraisal Guidance) appraisal and identification of preferred options for the A90 Ellon to Garthdee corridor and the A96 Inverurie to Aberdeen corridor.
The STAG appraisal for the A944/A9119 Westhill to Aberdeen corridor and the A92 Stonehaven to Aberdeen corridor appraisal are currently in progress.
It also highlighted the main works contract has been awarded for the South College Street Improvement Project, and an options appraisal is being held for the Aberdeen Rapid Transit scheme.
The report presented to committee noted that development of a traffic management plan for the city centre is ongoing, with a focus on fulfilling committee instruction to re-open Union Street to buses and taxis as soon as practically possible.
Meetings have been held with stakeholders to discuss the Union Street Options Appraisal work, which will be reported to Full Council alongside a full update on the City Centre Masterplan on 29 June 2022.
The Bus Partnership Fund programme has been enabled through Scottish Government funding and officers continue to work with partners to deliver the projects in accordance with the grant conditions.
