ABERDEEN-based Caber Coffee has raised hundreds of pounds for a local mental health charity – just four months after launching a ground-breaking fundraising initiative.

In September, the family-run company’s “Spill the Beans” became the latest coffee blend to hit the shelves, named to shine a light on the importance of communication when it comes to looking after mental health.

With coffee lovers encouraged to chat with others over a cup, £8 from every case sold is donated to Mental Health Aberdeen and £600 has already been raised thanks to customers enjoying Caber Coffee’s latest brew.

The creation of the unique product was spearheaded Caber Coffee Managing Director, Findlay Leask, driven by his desire to highlight the importance of both seeking and giving support.

Findlay said: “There are so many benefits to be had from sitting down and talking over a cup of coffee and I have first-hand experience of just how much this can help both as an individual, and in my team.

“The pandemic continues to exacerbate mental health issues for many people and we are delighted that so many of our customers have stepped on board our initiative to help us support Mental Health Aberdeen and the vital work they do.

Graeme Kinghorn, Mental Health Aberdeen (MHA) Chief Executive, added: “On behalf of everyone at MHA, I would like to thank Findlay and his customers for their generosity, because £600 is an incredible mount.

“To put this donation into context, it is the equivalent of 15 counselling sessions, with ten being the number of sessions that we typically provide for a client. That could result in one person being taken off the waiting list for our services, and given the help they need a little sooner.

“We’ve really enjoyed working with the team at Caber Coffee, there are so many synergies between both of our organisations and it’s wonderful to see their positive approach to mental health. We truly hope that this is just the start of our relationship, and that we can work together on more exciting projects in 2022.”

Family run Caber Coffee is a leading, independent wholesale company which is renowned for supplying quality ground coffee, beans, teas, vending ingredients and a range of quality, easy to use and reliable coffee machines, espresso makers and hot beverage equipment.  The company currently employs 10 people and works with clients in a range of sectors including contract catering and hospitality.
