TEAM members from Aberdeen-based housebuilder Cala Homes (North) have visited a local primary school to discuss the world of work and the key skills required within the industry with its pupils.
The four staff members attended Brimmond Primary School in Aberdeen to discuss foundations for work skills with Primary 4, 5, 6 and 7 classes, talking about their roles in creating new homes in the region with team members from the Sales, On Site Surveyor, Architecture and Trades Management teams taking part.
Barry Bruce, Fraser McCallum, Callum Cowie and Bruce Gordon each delivered presentations to the classes and answered questions from the pupils, who were really keen to learn about the importance of teamwork, communication and problem solving within the Cala team, as well as for the wider world of work.

Barry Bruce, Trades Co-ordinator at Cala Homes (North), said: “It was a pleasure to visit the pupils at Brimmond Primary School. We hope that we were able to highlight key skills that will help the schoolchildren to start to think about what career paths they might like to consider in the future and maybe even inspire them to take up a role within housebuilding.”
Joanna Campbell, Depute Head Teacher at Brimmond Primary School, said: “We would like to thank the Cala team for visiting the school and taking time out to speak to our pupils.
“Their interactive sessions were great and really helped to spark conversations among our pupils about what it is like to work.”
Brimmond Primary School is located close to Cala Homes’ Craibstone Estate development, which benefits from a peaceful woodland setting surrounded by mature trees but still only five miles from the heart of the city. The first phase comprises a selection of one- and two-bedroom apartments, while the second phase, Craibstone Estate South, features a series of three-, four- and five-bedroom family homes, tailor made to the high quality expected from Cala Homes.
