More than 450 people are expected to attend the event, and thanks to the support of the local business community all shortlisted organisations and individuals will be able to attend the awards for free.

Categories include: Large Charity of the Year; Small Charity of the Year; Volunteer of the Year; Fundraising Campaign of the Year; and Heart of the Community.

Award entries are now open and the deadline for submissions is Friday, June 212019.

The Celebrate Aberdeen Awards event is organised by a team of volunteers who are keen to give something back to the community in which they live and work.

Event organiser and the founder of Celebrate Aberdeen, Morven Mackenzie, said: “There are so many inspirational people and organisations in this city who work tirelessly for the benefit of others often with little or no recognition whatsoever.

“We established Celebrate Aberdeen in 2011 by way of a huge parade aimed at promoting Aberdeen’s third sector and showing how important and diverse it is. The awards continue to build on what’s been achieved to date.

“Last year’s awards, our first, were a great reminder of the vast amount of work that goes on across our city by incredible people. The whole experience from receiving all the application forms to hearing the winners being announced was truly humbling.

“We received more than 150 applications for our 11 awards last year with 33 third sector organisations attending the event. While there were many serious messages conveyed on the night, it was also great fun, and hopefully an event that those attending will remember for a very long time.

“The awards are free to enter and free to attend, and can help promote some of the great work going on in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, so we’d really encourage people to think about getting involved.”
