ABERDEEN charity Befriend a Child has announced the appointment of a new finance director to their board of trustees.

Steve Rae has been a supporter of the charity for a number of years and in 2019 took on a cycling challenge to visit all of the Scotland Handelsbanken branches in Scotland covering over 500 miles and raising more than £7,500 for the charity.

Steve, who has worked in banking for more than 30 years, said: “Hearing more about Befriend a Child and what they do for children across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire really struck a chord with me, and after taking on my cycle challenge for the charity I knew I wanted to do more.

“Having worked in finance for 30 years I felt the opportunity to join Befriend a Child’s board as their finance director was a natural fit and I hope I can make a positive difference.”

Sarah Misra, Befriend a Child chief executive officer, said: “We are very excited to welcome Steve to our board of trustees.

“He brings with him a wealth of skills and experience that we feel will be hugely beneficial to his role as trustee and finance director at Befriend a Child.”
