Councillor Alex McLellan, Finance and Resources Convener, said “This scheme will help smaller businesses and start-ups in Aberdeen overcome the financial barriers they might face in attending trade shows, exhibitions and conferences which can help them build resilience, support  growth and expand their customer base.

“In turn, this will help boost the city economy particularly in the emerging digital technology, tourism and food and drink sectors.”

The funding can be used to support travel, accommodation, event tickets or as a contribution towards exhibiting at an event. The scheme has been funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Applicants can apply for funding to attend events connected to the Digital Tech, Tourism and Food and Drink industries which take place prior to 21 March 2025.

Events which applicants might wish to attend and for which funding is available include the forthcoming Sifted Summit in London, North-East Tourism Conference, Restaurant & Takeaway Innovation Expo and Scottish Tourism Month.
