THE fire which tore through an Aberdeen steak restaurant last week is being treated as “not suspicious”, according to the fire service.
The devastating blaze began at around noon on Thursday, September 26, within the back building of Vovem restaurant, which backs onto Union Row.
Several neighbouring businesses were forced to evacuate due to the incident including staff at Vovem who all escaped to safety.

The building has been destroyed as the roof collapsed. Although the building remains upright, it’s uncertain how the blaze has compromised its structural integrity, and the fire is likely to have severely damaged the interior.
A metal fence has been erected at the rear of the building in case of falling debris.
