CityFibre, the UK’s largest alternative provider of wholesale fibre network infrastructure and the builder of Gigabit Cities, has agreed a three-year all-inclusive lease in the state-of-the-art Charter Building, formerly known as Marathon House at Hill of Rubislaw.

Jonathan Nesbitt, from FG Burnett, said: “We are delighted to have secured our first tenant within ‘Agile’ following the refurbishment. Traditional office space makes up the majority of the accommodation available at Charter. However, the introduction of the ‘Agile @ Charter’ concept really does enable companies to simply move in without losing valuable time setting up.

“The flexibility we provide, plus the ease of moving in with short form lease and all-inclusive payment, has been hugely successful and we’re delighted to announce CityFibre as our first customer for the concept.”

The “Agile @ Charter” concept offers tenants “plug and play” office space, complete with furniture and high-speed broadband.

Allan McEwan, city development manager for Aberdeen CityFibre, said: “CityFibre is investing £40m into Aberdeen to bring gold-standard connectivity to the city, with the full fibre network set to change the way we work, learn and play. Our construction programme is well underway, and as a growing business we require office space that fits our needs and allows us to scale-up as the build continues. We have big ambitions for Aberdeen and feel that Charter Building is the perfect location and offers all of the amenities we need to succeed. We’re proud to be the first tenant and look forward to bringing full fibre to almost every home and business in the Granite City.”
