ABERDEENSHIRE-based financial advisory firm, Phil Anderson Financial Services have appointed Luke McColl as a Financial Adviser in their expanding Caithness branch. The award-winning independent firm supported the former Wick High School pupil to complete his professional exams, before offering him a role within their Wick team.

Luke, an accounting graduate from Edinburgh Napier University, has been awarded the Diploma for Financial Advisers (DipFA) qualification from the London Institute for Banking and Finance. Phil Anderson Financial Services supported Luke with his course fees and with advice and guidance throughout his studies. Luke’s new role will see him advising clients on their finances, focusing on their pensions and investments.

Having previously worked as an accountant with a software company in Edinburgh, Luke returned to his home-town of Wick last year and worked on a self-employed basis, while studying towards the DipFA.

Company founder and MD, Phil Anderson, said, “I’m delighted to welcome Luke to the team, and I am confident he will be a great asset to the Wick team and to the firm as a whole. We’ve seen huge demand for our services recently, prompting 6 new appointments this year alone. With lots of further developments on the horizon, including securing new office premises in Caithness, it is a very exciting time for the team and the financial industry.”

Luke commented, “I’m very grateful toPhil for his unstinting guidance, support and encouragement throughout the course of my studies. I’m excited to embark on my career as a Financial Adviser with Phil Anderson Financial Services in my home-town of Wick, and I look forward to helping clients make the best use of their finances.”

The Caithness team have recently had more to celebrate as Mortgage and Protection Advisor, Kayleigh Ross, has already secured 75 mortgages since her appointment in November 2020.

Phil, who established the business in 2010, also records a popular podcast series in which he discusses hot topics in personal finance, delivering relatable insights and advice with his customary warmth. Entitled ‘The UK Personal Finance Show’ it can be found on Apple podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/ep-27-saving-money-for-a-holiday/id1530521980?i=1000513036278) and https://player.captivate.fm/episode/6decb808-e052-47ee-9f9b-50a8a5bed780.
