LEADING north-east family charity, Home-Start Aberdeen, is calling on local businesses and members of the public to support a campaign to provide new clothes and toys to vulnerable children this winter. Helping around 200 families every year including over 300 children aged 0-5, the charity is seeing a surge in demand for its services amidst the ongoing cost of living crisis.
“Many of the families we help rely on second hand clothing and toys throughout the year, particularly in the current economic climate which has forced the price of many everyday items out of reach,” explains the charity’s General Manager, Eleanor McEwan. “Our Cosy Up for Christmas appeal is about providing something new for families who are struggling this winter – from cosy coats and warm pyjamas to new toys and books.”
The charity is looking for:
- New warm coats for ages 1-5 years
- New all-in-one winter suits for ages 0-1
- New pyjamas and sleep suits for ages 0-5
- New Book for ages 0-5 years
- New toys for ages 0-5 years
“Receiving these items will make a big difference for local families at Christmas and during the cold winter months,” continues Eleanor. “We would appreciate any donation – large or small, you will be helping us create the Christmas every child deserves with your gift.”
Donations should be made by Friday 18th November to allow time for the Home-Start team to collate the Cosy Up packs and deliver to families in time for Christmas. Donated items should be dropped off at the Home-Start Aberdeen charity shop at 101 George Street, Aberdeen or can also be collected, by calling 01224 693545.
