ABERDEEN City Council is to introduce enhanced support for staff affected by a disability or medical condition.
“Reasonable Adjustment Passports” (RAPs) will capture details of their impairment and how that can be best accommodated in the workplace.
The Staff Governance Committee agreed today to progress RAPs, which will be developed by trade unions and staff in line with best practice, with input from the council’s Disability Working Group.
Committee convener Councillor Neil Copland said: “Aberdeen City Council prides itself on a being an inclusive employer and RAPs will make it easier to assist staff at an individual level.
“Any information a staff member wishes to share will be readily accessible to their manager and always up to date, which will be especially helpful if they are moving between roles.”
The passports are being promoted by the GMB union and will be backed by a council-wide awareness campaign and training.
The council is currently marking Year of the Disabled Worker (2022), which is sponsored by the Unison union.
