ABERDEEN’S housing supply has increased this year with the completion of more homes across the city.

Councillors from the Communities, Housing and Public Protection Committee noted progress made on the delivery of Aberdeen City’s Affordable Housing Delivery Programme.

Communities, Housing and Public Protection convener Councillor Miranda Radley said: “We are committed to ensuring that our housing supply continues to meet the needs of our residents and communities.

“The update on the addition of more affordable housing to our existing housing supply is great to hear and we look forward to adding to this in the future.”

Vice-convener Councillor Dell Henrickson said: “The affordable housing programme has been a great addition in what Aberdeen has to offer to individuals, families and communities and I look forward to seeing the more of these new homes being completed over the next year.”

Councillors heard that over the past year there were 806 affordable houses made ready to move into, the highest amount of homes completed through the affordable housing supply programme in Aberdeen.

Out of these, 8 of the homes were made fully wheelchair accessible.

It was further noted that as of August 2024 162 affordable homes have been completed, with a further 371 homes expected to become available in 2024/25.

Aberdeen City Council was allocated £16.041m through the Scottish Government’s affordable housing supply programme in order to make these homes available to move into.
