The NFU will be staging a tractor rally and day of action in Aberdeenshire on Saturday 1st February.
Drivers drivers of tractors, vans, pick-ups and lorry cabs are encouraged to get involved at the event, which begins at 10am at Aberdeen & Northern Marts (ANM Group Ltd) Thainstone Centre in Inverurie.
Harriet Cross, Scottish Conservative MP for Gordon and Buchan, will be in attendance, meeting and answering questions from farmers on a variety of issues at the event, including the family farm tax.
Ahead of the event tomorrow, Harriet Cross commented: “So soon after farmers went above and beyond to ensure our communities were safe during Storm Eowyn, this weekend’s rearranged tractor rally sends a clear message to Keir Starmer that this issue won’t be forgotten about.
“This day of unity is about farmers coming together to show the Labour UK Government that their plans will cause significant harm to the industry, rural communities and our food security.
“We won’t give up and I look forward to meeting farmers, taking questions and discussing how we can get Labour to finally sit round the table to listen to the industry’s concerns, something the treasury has so far refused to do.

“While farmers of all ages are rightly concerned, at the immediate heart of this are our elderly farmers, who want, and had always planned, to keep their farms until death to pass them on to the next generation.
“Instead, they are now left knowing if they live beyond April 2026 when the measures come in, their children may have to break up or sell the farm to pay the inheritance tax bill that they have not been given sufficient time to plan for.
“The recent AHDB analysis should sound alarm bells to Keir Starmer who must reverse his plans immediately to safeguard farming and our nation’s food supply.”
