Independent housebuilder Dandara has unveiled two new show homes at its long-running Hazelwood development in Aberdeen’s west end, as demand continues to grow for high-quality family homes in the region.
The launch comes amid rising concerns about housing supply across the north-east, with figures showing the area needs more than 3,500 new homes by 2028 to meet projected demand – including a significant shortfall in larger, family-sized properties.
Meanwhile, detached homes in the west end of Aberdeen remain among the most sought-after and highest-valued in the city, with recent analysis showing consistent demand in areas like Hazlehead, Craigiebuckler and Kingswells. These locations continue to attract families seeking space, access to green areas and strong local amenities – all qualities reflected in the Hazelwood masterplan.
Launched to the public following a VIP preview for early-bird customers, the new Rowan and Yew show homes highlight the next chapter in Hazelwood’s evolution. So far, 16 homes have been reserved since this latest phase opened, with four new plots added to the price list to meet buyer demand.
The Rowan is a distinctive one-and-a-half storey design featuring a dramatic galleried hallway, skylight and ground-floor bedroom – offering flexible living for different buyers. The Yew SR, the largest house type in the current phase, includes an open-plan kitchen, dining and sunroom area – already proving a major draw for families who entertain or work from home.
Both show homes have been carefully styled by Revolution – a Scottish interior design agency known for its eco‑led approach. Revolution’s work emphasises sustainable material sourcing, repurposed furnishings and low‑impact finishes that align closely with Dandara’s ESG ambitions For Hazelwood, Revolution has primarily used locally sourced fabrics and paints, and selected furnishings designed to reduce plastic use – all while delivering nuanced textures, layered character and thoughtfully liveable spaces.
Claire Bathgate, Head of Sales at Dandara Aberdeen, said: “Buyers in the north-east are making considered choices – they want homes that combine long-term value with thoughtful design and sustainability. The Rowan and Yew show homes do just that. Since opening, we’ve seen a really positive response, not just to the layouts but to the overall setting at Hazelwood, where people genuinely want to put down their roots.”
Hazelwood will deliver a total of 391 homes once complete, including previous phases at the neighbouring development The Grange. Homes in the current phase all come with EPC B ratings, integrated PV panels and EV charging points – part of Dandara’s commitment to energy-efficient, future-ready living.

Six homes will have been handed over by the end of June, with further completions expected throughout the year.
