Decathlon will close its Aberdeen outlet at Union Square on Saturday, 16 November, ending the French sports retailer’s five-year presence in the city. The store — located outside the main mall beside Market Street — is running a 50% clearance sale ahead of its final day. Notices at the entrance direct customers to the nearest branches, with the closest now 130 miles away in Edinburgh; other Scottish stores operate at Glasgow Braehead, Silverburn and in Livingston.
The exit removes a major multi-sport destination from Aberdeen’s retail mix, where Decathlon has been a popular source for bikes, footwear, camping gear and gym accessories since opening in October 2020.
Separately, Indian street-food operator Singh Street — which launched on Union Square’s upper floor last year — is also closing. Its page is currently marked “permanently closed” online and references to the Aberdeen site have been removed from the company’s website.
