Deloitte has promoted three employees to partner roles across its Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen offices as part of its latest round of senior appointments.
Hayley Strachan has been promoted in Aberdeen, alongside Ben Hacking in Glasgow and Joe Scott in Edinburgh. The trio are among 286 promotions made across Deloitte’s Scottish practice this year, including eight new directors, underlining the firm’s continued focus on developing talent from within.
The appointments form part of Deloitte’s wider UK-wide promotions round in June, which saw more than 6,000 people progress, including 48 new partners.
All three new partners began their careers with Deloitte as graduates. Hayley Strachan and Ben Hacking both started in the tax team, while Joe Scott built his career in audit and assurance.
Strachan, who joined the firm in 2008, now leads the Global Employer Services team in Scotland. She specialises in supporting employers with globally mobile workforces, with expertise spanning mobility, employment taxation, payroll and reward.
Hacking joined Deloitte in 2012 and is part of the Financial Investors business. He has extensive experience advising private equity clients on both buy-side and sell-side transactions, including tax due diligence and structuring.
Scott began his career in Edinburgh in audit and assurance, focusing primarily on financial services clients such as investment managers and large private capital businesses. His experience also includes controls, accounting advisory and broader assurance work.
In addition, Deloitte has welcomed Ross Millar back to the firm as a partner in its Edinburgh office. Millar originally joined in 2006, spending more than 12 years in the former Risk Advisory practice. He returns after serving as chief risk officer at an investment management firm and will now work within the Strategy, Risk and Transactions Advisory team, focusing on the investment management and wealth sector.

The latest promotions follow a period of continued investment in Deloitte’s Scottish operations. Over the past year, Hazel Gray was appointed as office senior partner in Aberdeen, alongside a move into new office space in the city. In Edinburgh, Lesley Smillie has taken on the role of office senior partner, with a focus on fostering a workplace where employees can innovate and grow.
