MAGGIE’S Aberdeen has seen the demand for benefits advice soar this year, with the cancer support charity’s advisors taking to virtual means to provide the vital service to those living with cancer in the North-east.

In June and July alone, Maggie’s Aberdeen’s benefits advisor Chris Zielinski secured more than £220,000 of benefits for local people living with cancer, winning two benefits tribunals in the process.

Chris said: “Aberdeenshire has a serious shortage of tribunal representatives, which makes Maggie’s service even more vital.

“Accessing the benefits that you are entitled to can make a huge difference. The benefits system can be complex and depend on factors like your age, your income, and how your diagnosis/treatment impacts your ability to carry out personal care tasks and mobility issues can also be taken into consideration.”
