THE demolition of Shell’s former headquarters in Tullos is to begin next week, a year after the energy giant moved into the city centre.
The distinctive building has been a mainstay of the Aberdeen skyline had been in use for decades, but there are ambitious plans in place for the grounds following demolition.
According to the Press & Journal, Shell are now locked in talks with the city council, Scottish Enterprise and Energy Transition Zone to forge a plan for the grounds that would benefit Aberdeen.
Simon Roddy, senior vice president of Upstream at Shell, started with the company three decades ago in the historic building.
“We have a vision to create a positive impact from the Tullos site,” he said.
“Removal of the existing office footprint is critical for this vision.”
