A notice of application submitted to Aberdeen City Council by a developer aiming to convert the city’s Lord Cullen House into 67 residences has been withdrawn.

Just a few days after filing the application notice, the applicant, Cater Property Investments, has taken the plans back off the table. While this action may initially seem like a setback for the proposed project, Cater Homes has stated that it will undergo a “redesign.”

It is believed that the development is still very much in consideration and that documents will be resubmitted to the council in the near future.

Lord Cullen House, located on Fraser Place, was formerly occupied by the Health and Safety Executive, the Met Office, and VisitScotland.

The building, which has remained vacant for several years, was acquired by Cater Group in 2021.

After a prolonged period of inactivity, it appeared that progress was being made when the application notice was filed, marking an early step in the planning process. Despite the withdrawal of the notice, it seems that the plans are not entirely off track.
