THE masterplan for a proposed development of homes at Conglass, Inverurie, by Cala Homes has been approved by Aberdeenshire Council.

The plans will add a second phase to the housebuilder’s previous development, The Grove at Inverurie, which sold out at the end of 2021.

The next step will be for Cala to submit a detailed planning application.

Lynn Melvin, Senior Land Manager for Cala Homes (North), said: “We are pleased to be a step closer to bringing more much-needed, high-quality homes to Inverurie.

“We have been working closely with the Council to address feedback provided at a committee meeting in May during which the masterplan was discussed.

“The masterplan has been updated to allow a minimum of 40 percent open space within the site, to meet Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan policy. A design for a secondary emergency access point has been agreed in principle with the Council’s roads department with more detail to follow in our detailed planning application. We also added further justification for the proposed location of a suds drainage pond.

“We will continue to liaise with both the Council and local community while developing our detailed planning application. Our first phase of homes at Conglass was a great success,  we are confident that this second phase will be a positive addition to the community, sympathetically complementing the existing homes.

“Our detailed plans will also include a number of sustainability and biodiversity measures. If successfully approved, we will implement our Community Pledge initiative, creating a bespoke plan of community support for the local area, which can include donations, volunteering, school programmes and more.”
