Discover Aberdeen’s Architectural Treasures this September with Doors Open Day

Scotland’s largest free annual festival, Doors Open Days, is returning next month, inviting the public to delve into the nation’s rich architectural heritage.

This year, the event will run every weekend in September, from the 7th to the 29th, offering a rare chance to explore a wide array of buildings, from historic landmarks to contemporary architectural wonders.

With the theme “Routes, Networks and Connections,” Doors Open Days 2024 seeks to inspire individuals and families to engage with their local history and uncover the narratives behind the structures that define their communities.

Attendees can anticipate a broad selection of venues, including museums, galleries, community centres, and private residences, all opening their doors to the public at no cost.

Throughout the festival, participating locations will offer guided tours, exhibitions, and interactive activities aimed at educating and inspiring visitors of all ages.

Many sites will also host special events, such as talks and performances by local artists and historians, providing a platform to celebrate the creativity and talent within our communities.

Doors Open Days is not just a celebration of architecture but also an opportunity to highlight the importance of preserving Scotland’s historical and cultural sites.
