Diversity Bridge SCIO hosted its highly anticipated end-of-year event, Shared Stories, Shared Spaces, bringing together dedicated volunteers and members of the local community. The event was an opportunity to reflect on the remarkable progress achieved by the charity in its inaugural year and to share its ambitious plans for 2025.

Since its registration in 2024, Diversity Bridge SCIO has been a beacon of inclusion, support, and empowerment for ethnic minorities and underserved populations in the Northeast of Scotland. The event showcased the charity’s impact through the following milestones:

  • Organising Three Community Events: These initiatives fostered connection and understanding among diverse groups.
  • Advocacy for Community Needs: Engaging directly with MSP Kevin Stewart, Diversity Bridge highlighted critical community challenges and opportunities for collaboration.
  • Supporting Local Schools: The charity partnered with schools such as Kemnay Academy, St Machar Academy, and Portlethen Academy to deliver interview skills workshops and mock interviews, equipping students with essential career readiness skills.
  • Facilitating Placement Opportunities: Collaborating with businesses to secure placements for three ethnic minority individuals, Diversity Bridge is breaking barriers to employment.
  • Providing Direct Support: Over 50 Aberdeen gift cards, preloaded with £45 each, were distributed to those in need, offering immediate relief and support.

Looking Ahead: Vision for 2025 During the event, Diversity Bridge SCIO unveiled its plans for the coming year, focused on expanding its reach and impact through three transformative initiatives:

  1. Youth Leadership Project (Ages 16-25)
    • Developing leadership, public speaking, digital skills, and self-confidence.
    • Empowering the next generation of leaders.
  2. Digital Inclusion Initiative
    • Partnering with Good Things Foundation to provide free digital inclusion services.
    • Distributing free mobile data packages through the National Databank.
    • Offering access to the Learn My Way platform to build basic digital skills.
    • Goal: Support 150 individuals in 2025 to bridge the digital divide.
  3. Empower500: Workplace & Internship Pathways
    • A pioneering project designed to create equitable opportunities for ethnic minority students, graduates, and community members.
    • Focusing on unlocking diverse talent to drive lasting change in industries across the Northeast.
