Aberdeen based diving consultancy DiveSource strengthen their team this month by appointing Richard Jones (known within the industry as Jonah), as their Diving Technical Authority, where he will be responsible for advising, reviewing and revising client processes and procedures.

Jonah’s vast experience includes over 41 years within the Subsea Industry, where he progressed to become a Diving and Subsea Safety Advisor at BP from 1991-2008 before moving to Shell and RTJ Diving Services.

Managing Director of DiveSource, Sarah Hutcheon, comments, “At DiveSource we are committed to providing our customers with the highest quality of service. This is reiterated through the hiring of Jonah.

An expert in his field, Jonah is an asset to DiveSource and we’re delighted that he has chosen to join the team.”

This month DiveSource launched the UK’s first Dive Control Simulator which is predicted to save the industry up to £17.2 million. The simulator is designed to support a range of scenarios from normal daily operations to emergency ‘what if’ situations. This impressive technology, which aims to assist dive supervisors in maintaining their competency in emergency situations, has been recognised by IMCA as class B.

Jonah comments “I very much look forward to representing DiveSource in the promotion of safe diving management to their clients”.

DiveSource have secured contracts with several operators for the provision of client reps and have undertaken ad hoc work in UKCS for both oil and gas and renewables projects. The launch of the Dive Control simulator has seen several diving contractors use the system for the competency verification of Dive Supervisors and for the remainder of 2017 DiveSource will be presenting at the IMCA diving seminars globally.
