ABERDEEN FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Robbie Hedderman as the club’s new Commercial Director.

Hedderman has over 20 years of commercial and sports sector experience with a career spanning investment banking, sports and charity sectors. He is also an experienced UEFA A licence coach and worked in the Aberdeen FC Youth Academy for six seasons supporting the development of players such as Calvin Ramsay, Jack Milne and Alfie Bavidge.

Having previously held a senior role with Aberdeen FC charity partner, AFC Community Trust, as Partnership and Business Development Manager, he joined the club in February 2021 as Business Development Manager. In this role he has helped to drive revenue by significantly increasing club partnerships in the last three years, creating a new seven figure income stream, while also leading positive change across commercial operation, both locally and globally.

Hedderman’s main focus will be to lead the club’s commercial team, identify new income streams, further driving key club partnerships and cultivating commercial revenues. Hedderman will also be a member of the club’s senior executive team.

“Robbie has demonstrated outstanding qualities, and record-breaking results during his time as interim Commercial Director and it made his him the standout individual to lead the next phase of our commercial growth”, said Alan Burrows Aberdeen FC chief executive.

“He will lead and be responsible for all aspects of the clubs’ commercial and hospitality operation, inheriting a hugely talented and committed team across those functions.

“I’m confident Robbie’s experience, vision and leadership skills will help to accelerate and fulfil our strategic ambitions in the coming years.”

With a strong sports services background, Hedderman is an experienced leader who believes in utilising the power of football to develop and nurture relationships.

Robbie said: “I am delighted to take up the role as Commercial Director for Aberdeen Football Club.

“The club’s rich history and ambitious plans for the future make this a very exciting time to be involved. I look forward to continuing to work with our hard working commercial team to engage with fans and businesses locally, nationally, and internationally to forge dynamic partnerships to help play our part in driving success on the pitch.”
