The dinner, which will benefit Mental Health Aberdeen (MHA) and Aberdeen Cyrenians, is being held at the Sandman Hotel in Aberdeen on Friday, October 28.
In addition, attendees will hear from Rob Wicks, commercial director at Aberdeen Football Club.
Willie, whose many professional accomplishments included leading Aberdeen to European Cup Winners’ Cup glory in Gothenburg in 1983, will also answer questions on his career and wider football topics during an interview session.
The dinner, rescheduled to October from its original planned date in May this year, will feature a silent auction in support of the two good causes.
Michael Reid, managing partner at Meston Reid & Co, said: “The dinner promises to be a fantastic occasion and we’re confident that both Mental Health Aberdeen and Aberdeen Cyrenians – who do exceptional work in the local community – will benefit greatly from the generosity of everyone who attends.”
“Willie is invariably a fascinating and entertaining speaker at such events and we can look forward to a memorable evening of anecdotes and insights from one of Scottish football’s greats.”
Graeme Kinghorn, chief executive of Mental Health Aberdeen (MHA), said: “MHA are delighted to be one of the recipients of this fundraising event being organised by Meston Reid & Co.”
“The current demands on the emotional resilience of the local community are exceptionally high, with no signs of any respite, and all our services are working at or above full capacity. The awareness and funds raised by this event will be extremely helpful.”
Chris Bennett-Taylor, chief executive Aberdeen Cyrenians, said: “We’re delighted to have been chosen by Meston Reid & Co to benefit from this fantastic event for Dons fans. Community is at the heart of both football and charity, where anyone can be affected and everyone can help.”
“This engaging charity dinner will raise vital funds for the hundreds of people we support each week, pushed into poverty by the cost-of-living crisis we are currently facing.”
Established in 1990, Meston Reid & Co is an Aberdeen-based chartered accountancy practice based at Carden Place.
Mental Health Aberdeen is a charity that provides free counselling and information services to adults and young people experiencing difficulties related to their mental health and wellbeing. Mental Health Aberdeen was formed in 1950, making it one of the oldest charities working with people experiencing mental health difficulties.
Aberdeen Cyrenians supports individuals in the community that are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless or affected by homelessness in anyway. It aims to meet the basic needs of those individuals by providing access to food, shelter, clothing and toiletries as well as identifying the underlying issues to their homelessness. This could include mental health, learning disabilities, substance misuse, abuse, unemployment and financial difficulties. The charity was established in 1968.
Tickets for the fundraiser cost £65 and include a three-course dinner as well as a drinks reception. For further information, please contact Michael Reid [email protected]
