THE TEAM at Scotland’s largest live event venue, P&J Live, were celebrating last night (Thursday 21st March 2024) after picking up two top industry awards.
The first saw the Aberdeen-based venue’s head chef, Peter Thompson, honoured as he picked up the Banqueting and Events Chef of the Year at the prestigious Scottish Excellence Awards, held at Edinburgh’s Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa.

Shortlisted against Barry Bryson of Cater by Barry Bryson (Edinburgh) and Stuart Fraser of The Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa (St Andrews), Peter came out on top having demonstrated his outstanding ability to bring growth, innovation, banqueting excellence, and mentorship to the venue’s culinary team.
P&J Live was also host to the ASM Global annual staff recognition awards, The ASMies, last night where Aberdeen’s audiovisual team collected the ASM Acts Award for their dedicated mentorship scheme with North East Scotland College’s (NESCol) sound production and music students.
ASM Global Acts is ASM Global’s corporate social responsibility programme, which committed to investment in people and communities around the world.
Rob Wicks, Managing Director of P&J Live, said: “Our audiovisual team were nominated and went on to win the prestigious ASM Acts Award for their wonderful work with NESCol’s music production students. “During the evening, we also got word from Edinburgh that our own Head Chef, Peter Thomson, had won Chef of the Year at the Scottish Excellence Awards. This is outstanding recognition for Peter and the wider F&B team’s efforts.
