Douglas Lumsden has been selected as the Scottish Conservative candidate for Aberdeenshire East at next year’s Scottish Parliament election.
The North East regional MSP and party’s shadow energy secretary said he is honoured to have been chosen and is determined to win Aberdeenshire East, whose issues have been ignored by the SNP.
Aberdeenshire East is a key seat for the Scottish Conservatives following Harriet Cross’ win at last year’s General Election for Gordon and Buchan.
Before becoming an MSP, Douglas spent 25 years in oil and gas and was co-leader of Aberdeen City Council between 2017 and 2021.
Douglas Lumsden said: “I am delighted and honoured to be the Scottish Conservative candidate for Aberdeenshire East, a constituency close to my heart.
“For too long the SNP have treated Aberdeenshire East as an afterthought and failed the area which is why I am determined to champion the constituency.”
He added: “My priorities include safeguarding local jobs and skills, particularly in the oil and gas industry and farming sector, as well as pushing for road upgrades on the A96, A90 and A947.
