Robert has previously held CFO and CEO positions in the North East across several industries including a multi-site distribution business and positions within the Oil & Gas sector before moving into healthcare.

Robert Skidmore said  “Duncan and Todd have developed a strong business model combining deep industry expertise with high standards of service. I am excited about the opportunity to further develop and support the business in its next phase of growth.”

The Duncan and Todd Group now spans 30 practices across Scotland with well-known brands including 20 20 Opticians, JM MacDonald as well as Douglas Dickie Opticians.

As recently as the 1st of July, the group acquired Hughes Opticians in Coatbridge, a family run opticians fitting well within the group’s ethos.

The Group also operates the state-of-the-art laboratory, Caledonian Optical, based in Aberdeen which crafts lenses to all Duncan and Todd optical branches, as well as over 200 clients across the UK.

Following a £15million investment from private equity firm LDC at the end of March 2018, the group has plans to strengthen Duncan & Todd’s presence in the Central Belt. This will also enable the group to roll out its new audiology service, ensuring local communities have access to high-quality hearing care throughout Scotland.
