Plans are well advanced for the return of the Gordon & Watson Family Fun Day, also known as the 14th Friends of Duthie Park Open Day, promising an afternoon of live entertainment, activities and attractions for visitors of all ages.
The popular community event will begin at 12 noon with a performance from the Ythan Fiddlers. The afternoon’s live programme will also feature the Makaton Choir, Aberdeen Cheer & Dance, RGC Pipe Band, The Kingswells Singers and Pam Dignan’s Country Dancing.
Younger visitors will be able to enjoy a range of rides, while a large selection of stalls will offer refreshments and activities throughout the park. Among those attending will be Granite City Roller Derby, North-East Remote Control, Wrestlezone Scotland, the Model Boat Club and Archway, the Friends of Duthie Park’s charity for 2026.
North East Radio Scotland will broadcast live from the event, while Spike the talking cactus will welcome visitors to his home in the Winter Gardens during the afternoon.

A Friends spokesperson said: “Fingers crossed, we’re normally very lucky with the weather and last year more than 10,000 visitors attended our Open Day.
“All the money raised by the Friends is reinvested in the park, which is one of the north east’s best loved attractions. Over the past year, we have funded new signage and a real-time information totem in the Winter Gardens; refurbished the popular old roller, now in the Riverside Drive play area, in conjunction with Aberdeen Shotblasting; successfully bid for the CLAN bench that had been in the park prior to it being auctioned off; and hosted a reception for the park’s invaluable and hugely appreciated volunteers.”
The Gordon & Watson Family Fun Day runs until 4pm, with funds raised supporting future improvements and initiatives at Duthie Park.
