World leading grid-edge intelligence business EA Technology has launched its new OLIMS online platform to transform the way in which electrical assets are tested and maintained.

The platform will allow Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and industrial sites to access all their high-voltage (HV) transformer oil test results in one place, making it easier to identify trends and to make informed maintenance decisions in real time.

To accompany the platform, EA Technology has a fully comprehensive oil testing lab capable of processing over 40,000 oil samples a year based at its headquarters in Capenhurst in the UK.

The lab recently underwent a major expansion in the Autumn of 2025 which has doubled its testing capacity.

The service is on offer to industrial sites and DNOs from around the United Kingdom, with oil samples tested for key indicators such as dissolved gases, moisture and acidity – all of which help gauge the health and condition of HV transformers.

With EA Technology’s new capabilities, operators of critical high-voltage equipment can then use the results of their tests to conduct maintenance of their electrical assets faster and more efficiently.

HV transformers make up a large part of the nation’s critical energy infrastructure and are insulated with oil to keep them running smoothly.

Without regular oil tests, HV transformers are at risk of insulation breakdown, overheating, and unexpected failure, putting both commercial and domestic power supplies at risk.

Jonathan Lewin, Head of HV Monitoring at EA Technology, said, “Oil testing is a vital tool for industry and DNOs looking to check the health of their network and stay on top of their high voltage maintenance.

“It’s pivotal in the day to day running of our national energy network, without which we put the electricity supply to our critical public, commercial and domestic infrastructure at risk of failure.

“With the addition of our new OLIMS platform, we’re aiming to make it easier to keep on top of oil maintenance – a small but mighty part of keeping the UK’s power on.”
