The debate about strategy in gambling has raged on since the dawn of man. For as long as we’ve been gambling, we have been debating the worthiness of tactics and skill. Most of the time we come to the conclusion that gambling is a luck-based hobby, and strategy does not play a significant role. But some games do make a difference.

Blackjack for example has always been the subject of heated debate. When the live version of the game hit online casinos, that debate sparked back up. There is not a big difference between Novibet blackjack and its land-based counterpart. But the rise to prominence of the digital version did bring a ton of new fans who had no clue about the strategies that they could use. That is why we are here to discuss beginner strategies.

The Basic Strategy

One of the most prominent strategies in blackjack is so popular that it has lost whatever name it originally may have had. Today we simply know it as the basic blackjack strategy. There is not a professional player alive today that does not rely on this strategy at least some of the time. Some may be more prone to experiment and take risks. But the understanding of this system remains.

But what is the basic strategy? It is a simple matter of understanding the mathematics behind the game. By studying the laws of probability, blackjack players can predict whether a move they make is senseless. So, when the dealer gives you a card, you just have to know when to hit, when to hold, and when to throw in the towel.

The Betting Systems

For intermediate players, we would suggest learning something about the betting systems that were popularized by roulette players. Unlike blackjack, roulette is a game entirely revolving around the whims of Lady Luck. So, savvy players came up with ways to take control of the game the only way they could; by manipulating their own bankroll.

Betting systems are not the best for new players; especially those that are focused on aggressive play. The Fibonacci system bears the name of a mathematical sequence of the same name. But it is a fairly aggressive way to gamble, which probably will not sit well with most newbies. That is why we recommend it for intermediate players who know what they are doing.

Card Counting

We can’t talk about blackjack strategies without mentioning card counting. As is the case with the basic strategy, there is no professional player alive that doesn’t know how to count cards. What is more, this is the strategy that the infamous MIT Blackjack Team used to take Las Vegas and casinos all over the world for everything they are worth.

The problem with counting cards is that most establishments don’t appreciate it. Indeed, they view card counting as a form of cheating. The practice is not illegal, unless players use external software to count. But, casinos can choose to ban or suspend anyone who they suspect of counting cards. It is one way that the house manages to stay ahead of the customer.
