Aberdeen based EC-OG Halo technology uses lithium-ion batteries and an innovative Intelligent Energy Management System to provide local power to subsea infrastructure. With a growing pipeline of projects, the technology has global use cases including:

  • Restoration of power to subsea oil and gas wells suffering from electrical supply issues.
  • The gateway for decarbonization of offshore and subsea assets using renewable energy generation.
  • Enabling all electric and umbilical-less field operations with local power delivery.
  • Retro-fitting additional condition monitoring or instrumentation.
  • Seabed based UAV/ROV charging and operations.

Founded in 2018, Fortior Ventures is an industrial advisory firm which is well aligned with EC-OG’s vision for decarbonizing oilfield operations with innovative energy management, energy storage and clean energy technologies.

CEO Mark Hannigan leads Fortior’s investment and technology adoption services specializing in the energy transition and digital transformation. As former CEO of Allrig Group, Partner in Greenbackers Investment Capital and Houston based GlobalScot, Mark and Fortior are well positioned to support EC-OG’s international expansion plans.

Commenting on the partnership, EC-OG Business Development Director Paul Slorach said: “We know from experience that our Halo technology has applications away from the core North Sea market. Much of our project work is undertaken for international clients and we will be exporting our first Halo system to the USA later this year. It’s an exciting time for EC-OG and with Mark’s network, we can engage with strategic North American customers in support of our ambitious internationalization objectives.”

Mark Hannigan added: “Industrial battery & energy management technologies are a key enabler for offshore oilfield decarbonization and the wider blue economy. We are delighted to be able to help EC-OG better access the growing market for their solutions here in North America”
