Roddie Barclay established the business with his son in 2015. Following a diverse entrepreneurial career, Roddie identified a gap in the market for a local energy brokering firm which would provide ongoing customer support and service, as well as identifying the best deals.

He started with just a handful of potential client and now has ambitions to double JPR Energy’s client list in the next two years. Roddie said:

“The first couple of years for any new business take a huge leap of faith and a lot of hard work and I am delighted that we can now look back and be proud of what we have achieved.

“What makes me most proud is the difference we have made to these local businesses. So many organisations simply sign up to energy and water contracts that are far too expensive not knowing they could be getting a much better deal or thinking they don’t have the time to manage all the paperwork involved.

“We have the expertise and connections to identify the best deals and make significant savings and we take all the legwork out of switching suppliers and tariffs from our clients.”

The majority of clients have saved more than £1000 a year on their bills. Some have saved in excess of £15,000. With the continuing difficulties facing the North-east economy, these reductions are more vital than ever and the funds freed up are having a real positive impact on the businesses’ bottom line.
