UNION Street will welcome another new business on Monday as US-chain Popeyes opens its first North-east restaurant.

The all-new American fried chicken eatery will be the brand’s 11th opening this year as part of plans to launch 30 new locations in 2024, following on from their successful launch in Scotland last year.

Popeyes is promising to pull out all the stops to showcase its Southern hospitality as it brings a taste of New Orleans to the Granite City.

Guests looking to visit on launch day are advised to get down quickly to beat the queue likely to form down the Granite Mile.

‘Round-the-block’ queues have become synonymous with Popeyes UK restaurant launches, with diners all over the country having previously queued from as early as 7pm the night before.

Popeyes will also be serving up their breakfast menu from Tuesday, April 16.
