MD Johnny Montgomerie was made redundant from his business development position within oil and gas in August 2015. The last thing he expected was to be running a cleaning business but with the first year of trading under his belt he is now optimistic for the future. Ruby Irons and Ruby Cleans both have a combined team of 22 supporting their client needs.

Mr Montgomerie said, “The downturn has had a significant impact on most people residing in Aberdeen and beyond, it’s very worrying to discover that the job you rely on is no longer there.

“Looking back I am glad that I took the step of going into the unknown, it’s amazing how you can turn a major setback into something positive when you put your mind to it. I am not going to lie it has been very hard work.

“We believe that solid branding, excellent customer service, quality eco-friendly products and equipment have contributed in no small part to our success so far. We are also building slowly and we have a team in place now who are fantastic. The current Team Ruby is a solid foundation to build on.”

Ruby Cleans serves both residential and commercial clients in Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire. The company has long term plans to further develop the commercial side of the business, as well as sustaining steady growth in the residential market.
