The UK and Irish commercial fishing industry will come together in Aberdeen this May for the Fishing News Awards 2025, a key date in the sector’s calendar that recognises outstanding achievements across the industry.

Taking place on Wednesday, 7 May at the Chester Hotel in Aberdeen, the awards celebrate the dedication and innovation of those working in commercial fishing – from skippers and young fishers to processors, engineers and service providers.

Now in its 10th year, the Fishing News Awards is the only dedicated awards programme for the UK and Irish commercial fishing sector, bringing together people from every corner of the industry for an evening of recognition, networking, and celebration.

“We’re delighted to be holding the event in Aberdeen – a city with such a strong historical connection to the fishing industry,” said Andy Read, editor of Fishing News. “It’s a brilliant opportunity to shine a spotlight on the people and organisations making a real difference across the sector.”

Guests will be treated to a welcome drinks reception, sponsored by the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation, offering a fantastic opportunity to network with key players from across the local and UK-wide fishing industry. This will be followed by a three-course meal featuring the best of Scottish seafood, provided by Seafood Scotland. After dinner, comedian and presenter Ed Byrne will take the stage to entertain guests, before the names of this year’s award winners are revealed. The celebrations and socialising will continue until late, making this an evening to remember.
