Former P & J editor takes non-executive director role

Damian Bates, the former editor of the Press & Journal, has been appointed as non-executive director of Texo DSI (UKCS), the dedicated offshore division of Texo Drone Survey and Inspection Limited to help it grow its presence in the global energy sector.

The company which owns and operates a dynamic fleet of unmanned aerial vehicles for industrial applications.

Damian Bates is an award-winning journalist with over 25 years in media, ten as a senior editor, dealing with business change, digital transformation and reputation management as well as producing ground-breaking, highly successful and profitable newspapers, digital platforms and associated products.

Damian is a published author, seasoned commentator and accomplished public speaker. He is a former chairman of the Scottish Newspaper Society’s editors’ committee, a recent member of the Editors’ Code Committee which produces the rules UK journalists abide by.

He is a member of the Independent Press Standards Organisation panel, visiting Professor at Robert Gordon University and Chairman of Fifth Ring an international business-to-business marketing company.
