Coastguard lifesavers received a distress call and and sent plane to the scene while a rescue helicopter from Norway also attended.

A call was made out to other boats in the area to come to their aid, and the crew of the fishing boat in distress were pulled from their lifeboat by a different fishing vessel which responded.

A Coastguard statement said: “The crew was recovered safe and well from a liferaft by a fishing vessel which responded to the call for help.

“No-one was reported missing and the crew will be brought to shore by another vessel.”
