The investment has allowed for the purchase of a new NTX2000 machine, supplementing an existing four-year old machine that is currently operating at 100 hours per week, and will be used to produce high-tolerance precision components in fewer operations.

The new twin spindle, five-axis machine will help alleviate some of the pressure from the existing machine by providing an additional 6,000 production hours annually; allowing the company to support several major long-term contracts and develop new business.

The business, which currently employs 40 people, is looking to increase its market share in aerospace and defence and add further personnel to its team.

John Friel, general manager at GA North West, said: “The workforce at GA North West work hard to understand and exceed our customers’ expectations. We combine innovative and highly-skilled engineering teams with top quality machine tools that drive efficiency into our processes, and benefits our customers by reducing cost and lead-time without compromising the high level of quality and attention to detail in every component we manufacture.

“To achieve this, we need investment and partnership with companies, such as DMG Mori, who constantly look to improve the way forward in CNC machining. The latest investment in the new NTX2000 underlines the importance of this philosophy, while following this process will enable us to achieve a successful future for our customers, company, and suppliers.”

Angus Gray, CEO of Pryme Group, said: “This investment provides a timely boost for the team at GA North West, and follows an encouraging period of growth that reflects the increasing demand for the company’s specialist services from clients in the oil and gas, defence and aerospace industries.

“The new machining centre will make a real difference in terms of the size of projects that the team can handle as well as faster delivery times for clients’ projects.”

Based at the White Lund Industrial Estate in Morecambe, GA North West specialises in medium-sized high precision CNC machining services for the aerospace, defence, nuclear, medical, and oil & gas markets.
