A major geoscience and engineering conference in Toulouse has concluded, with the baton now being handed to Aberdeen and the team at P&J Live to host the 87th event next year.
The European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) has announced that its 87th Annual Conference & Exhibition will take place in Aberdeen from 8–11 June 2026, marking the first time the prestigious event will be hosted in the city since the organisation’s founding in 1951.
EAGE is a leading international organisation for geoscientists and engineers, renowned for its annual conference that brings together around 5,000 professionals, academics, and industry leaders to discuss the latest advancements in geoscience and engineering. The event is celebrated for its comprehensive technical programme, expansive exhibition, and numerous networking opportunities, offering sessions, workshops, and presentations that showcase cutting-edge research and technological developments.
The Toulouse event, themed “Navigating Change: Geosciences Shaping a Sustainable Transition,” focused on the critical role of geosciences in promoting global sustainability and addressing environmental challenges. It featured a packed agenda of technical talks, poster sessions, and workshops, covering seismic acquisition, seismic processing, and broader subsurface exploration challenges—key areas for the energy sector.
Aberdeen’s selection as the next host city is seen as a major milestone for both the region and the conference. Marcel van Loon, Chief Executive Officer of EAGE, stated: “Aberdeen has long been a hub for energy expertise and innovation. Hosting our 87th Annual Conference & Exhibition in this city underscores our commitment to fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange in regions pivotal to the geoscience community.”
Representatives from P&J Live and the Aberdeen Convention Bureau attended the 86th conference in France last week to proudly present Aberdeen as the upcoming host of this event.
The P&J Live team, posting on LinkedIn, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for the city to welcome delegates from around the world and showcase our world-class venue and Scottish hospitality.
“The team has worked hard alongside Aberdeen Convention Bureau, University of Aberdeen, VisitScotland Business Events and other stakeholders to successfully bid against other major cities across Europe and secure this prestigious event.
“We can’t wait to welcome the thousands of professionals, academics, and industry leaders to discuss the latest advancements in geoscience and engineering.”
Steve Daun, Head of Association Sales at P&J Live, said: “Not only will this conference reinforce the Northeast of Scotland’s position as a continued active player in the global energy sector, but it also places a spotlight on the exceptional work and research currently being carried out.”
