A planned 48-hour strike by more than 100 Glasgow Airport workers has been suspended, allowing further pay negotiations to take place.
The industrial action, which was scheduled to run from 24 to 26 July, would have coincided with the peak of the Glasgow Fair fortnight – a traditionally busy period for the travel hub.
Staff represented by the Unite union, including airside support officers, engineers and managers, had voted to walk out in a dispute over pay. However, the union has now agreed to postpone the strike following renewed dialogue with airport management.
A spokesperson for Glasgow Airport confirmed: “We have been informed by Unite that the planned industrial action for 24 to 26 July has been suspended to allow for further dialogue regarding our pay offer of 4%.”
This summer marks the first peak travel season since AviAlliance acquired AGS Airports – the operator of Glasgow, Aberdeen and Southampton airports – in a £1.53 billion deal finalised in January 2025.
Glasgow Airport is expected to remain fully operational as discussions continue.
