Global, the integrated energy infrastructure solutions provider, has expanded its service offering with the launch of Global Commissioning, a new Aberdeen-based business supporting clients across the full project lifecycle.
Based at Global’s corporate office alongside fellow group company Apollo, Global Commissioning will provide commissioning, completions, start-up, handover and operational-readiness services. Its work will span onshore and offshore wind, oil and gas, transmission and alternative fuels, with further opportunities in data centres, industrial facilities, infrastructure, manufacturing and process plants.
The new company will be led by Commissioning Services Director Ben Rushton, who joins Global with 15 years’ experience in the field. Global Commissioning has already secured contracts with two clients and is actively tendering for further work across its target sectors.
Rushton said the business would add an important capability to Global’s end-to-end offering, helping clients identify efficiencies by involving commissioning expertise from the earliest stages of a project.
“Although commissioning has traditionally been seen as the final part of a project, we believe that by understanding and participating in the project from tendering right through to delivery and handover, we can add huge value to clients,” he said.
“Whether it be onshore or offshore, we’ll bring left-to-right thinking and a complete vision for the project, from tender, through design, procurement, construction, delivery and commissioning, leaning on the comprehensive matrix of capabilities offered by the Global portfolio companies.”
Rushton added that the group’s wraparound model would allow clients to work with a single contractor across a project’s scope, potentially delivering cost and time savings through areas such as early engineering input and pre-commissioning of systems and subsystems.
Global Commissioning is now recruiting, with plans to build its team to 25 people by the end of the year. The business is currently working on two active projects and is targeting further opportunities in the space, data-centre and wider energy-infrastructure markets.
