The VIBES Awards is Scotland’s leading environmental awards scheme, recognising and supporting businesses that contribute to Scotland’s sustainable development through improving processes or developing new products and services.

The awards aim to encourage efficient use of resources, improvement of environmental performance, enhancement of business competitiveness, and support for wider sustainable development.

With activity already underway for the 16th annual awards, VIBES is inviting Scotland’s businesses to join previous supporters like Stagecoach, Chivas and Albert Bartlett in sponsoring the awards.

The Scottish Government, Zero Waste Scotland and Scottish Power, sponsors of last year’s awards, have already pledged their continued support and VIBES is encouraging other businesses to get behind the awards and show they are serious about achieving environmental excellence.

Last year’s awards were attended by over 300 people from a variety of Scottish organisations, and companies which were rewarded for their excellence included BAE Systems Naval Ships, Jessie Mac’s B&B, Fife HARCA Ltd., IRT Surveys Ltd., Keenan Recycling Ltd., Peel Tech Ltd., Soilutions Ltd., Wind & Cloud Travel Ltd., GRAHAM Construction and Celtic Renewables Ltd.

Gillian Bruce, Chair of VIBES, said: “Things are getting underway for our 16th annual VIBES Awards and we are looking forward to making this the best year yet. We are encouraging Scotland’s businesses to show their support for the 2015 VIBES Awards where they will not only have the opportunity to get exposure and connect with a huge audience, including other businesses, journalists and politicians, but will also show they are an organisation committed to tackling climate change.

“We are pleased to announce that the Scottish Government, Zero Waste Scotland and Scottish Power have pledged to continue their support for another year, and we look forward to welcoming other businesses to the 2015 VIBES event.”

Over the years VIBES has attracted interest from a host of well-known names including Robert Wiseman Dairies, Bausch & Lomb, Diageo, William Tracey and Coca-Cola.

The VIBES Award is a strategic partnership between Scottish Environment Protection Agency, Scottish Government, Scottish Water, Scottish Enterprise, Highland and Islands Enterprise, Zero Waste Scotland, Energy Saving Trust and the 20:20 Climate Group.

The Awards are further supported by CBI Scotland, the Institute of Directors, the Federation of Small Businesses and Bright Green Business.
