An Aberdeen-based PR company has announced plans for the return of a hugely popular giant Burns Supper.

To celebrate the company’s tenth birthday in 2018, Granite PR teamed up with Aberdeenshire-based event management company Business Plus Scotland to stage the inaugural Granite Burns Supper which was attended by more than 400 guests and raised in excess of £6000 for charity.

Due to the success of the event, plans have now ben announced to repeat the venture on Friday, January 25th at the city’s DoubleTree by Hilton Aberdeen Treetops – and with over 200 people already booked, the event once again looks set to be the largest of its kind in the North East.

The Granite Burns Supper will run from 6.30pm until 11pm and will feature speeches, a mouth-watering meal, networking opportunities and a variety of entertainment.  The evening will also raise money for Flying Start, the global charity partnership between British Airways and Comic Relief, and Inspire which provides a range of services for adults with learning disabilities and additional support needs in a variety of settings in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Moray and Angus.

Phyllis Stuart, British Airways manager at Aberdeen Airport, said: “We’re delighted that this year’s Granite City Burns Supper will again be helping to boost the fund-raising efforts of our Flying Start charity campaign in support of Comic Relief.

“Flying Start’s partnership with Comic Relief began in 2010 with the intention of raising £20 million by 2020.  However, thanks to the enormous generosity of our passengers, we have already reached that milestone figure with time to spare.”

She added: “Our eight annual Aberdeen Flying Start Balls have raised more than £150,000 for Comic Relief and I’m sure that the guests at the 2019 Granite Burns Supper will be even more generous than last year and help us add to the wonderful sum already raised by the people of Aberdeen and the north east of Scotland for this worthwhile cause.”

Inspire Development Manager (Communities & Communication) Andrew Reid added: “We are delighted to be involved in this fantastic event which will provide a welcome boost to funds in our landmark 30thanniversary year.

“Service provision began in 1990 when three people moved from Aberdeen’s Woodlands Hospital into their new home in the city’s Fonthill Terrace – nowadays more than 300 adults are supported thanks to a range of initiatives so our share of what is raised on the night will be put to very good use.”
